Koji Uehara is a Japanese right-handed starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles.

Uehara is renowned for his performance in international competition.
He participated in international events since he was in the University, he also participated Olympic Games twice,
as well as the first World Baseball Classic, and participated in Asian Baseball Championships.

The list of awards Uehara received in his NPB career include Rookie of the Year honors in 1999 and the Sawamura Award,
the NPB's equivalent of MLB's Cy Young Award, in 1999 & 2002. He was also a two-time Top Nine Award winner (1999 & 2002),
given to the NPB's best all-around starting pitcher, and an eight-time All-Star (1999-2005, 2007).
On January 13, 2009, Uehara signed a two-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
He is expected to be the number 2 starter behind ace Jeremy Guthrie.
